Dedicated to serving women, House of Menuha, 801 E. 77th St., was founded as a restful retreat amid the challenges of contemporary life. Menuha is actually a home with rooms visitors can retreat to for rest, reflection and renewal of mind, body, and spirit. In addition, Menuha offers what is called “Reflections,” facilitated discussion groups about a specific topic of personal, professional or spiritual enrichment.
Contest Begins for Guessing the Weight of the Critters
The Kansas City Zoo has received the first three of what will be 36 hand-carved wooden carousel animals for an Endangered Species Carousel, scheduled to open for the 2007 season. The three animals, a chimpanzee, hippopotamus, and rhinoceros, are on display in the Zoo’s main gift shop.
The Southtown Council Environment and Public Works Committee selected Blue Hills Community Services (BHCS). BHCS has maintained a commitment to communities in the urban core of KC for 32 years and plays a vital role in assuring that the many social, physical, and infrastructure needs of the community can be met. “We offer solutions that support the positive development of communities by stabilizing neighborhoods and improving residents’ lives,” states Joanne Bussinger, BHCS Executive Director.
The following people were elected to the Southtown Board of Directors. They will be serving a term of two years unless noted.
Roll up your sleeves to help with the Tulips on Troost project! Volunteers will work together on Saturdays between now and November 4 to till the ground, to build tulip beds, and to plant bulbs along Troost Avenue.
