Southtown Welcomes New Employees

Maureen Lunn is the Tulips on Troost's (TOT) newest member, serving as an Americorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America). She came to TOT, thanks to her interest in local non-profit work and experiences living and working in areas surrounding Troost Avenue. Prior to becoming a VISTA, she completed a master's degree in African Studies at the University of Kansas and has served as director of student ministries at Jacob's Well Church in midtown, and at YouthFront in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

Special Upcoming Events:

Jennifer Boe, Kansas City artist and curator, will present an allegorical solo exhibition on food - specifically meat and potatoes - in a cultural, political and economic context. How to Cook a Wolf opens with an artist's talk at 6:30pm, Friday, Oct. 16 at the Greenlease Gallery, located between Van Ackeren and Sedgwick halls on the Rockhurst University campus, 54th St. and Troost Ave. The exhibition continues through Dec. 12. The gallery is open to the public from noon to 5pm. Thursday-Saturday.

As the Kansas City Zoo continues its ZOOtennial anniversary celebration, Kansas City, Mo. residents are invited to explore their city’s award-winning Zoo with complimentary admission during October and November, 2009.

Kansas City, Mo. residents get free admission by visiting the Zoo during regular business hours in October and November. With only a photo identification and proof of residency, which can be established with a utility or other bill depicting a KCMO address, guests will get to experience the 202 acres nestled inside valleys and rolling hills.
