Metro Patrol Police Appreciation Picnic

On Saturday, June 22 from 3-6pm, area neighborhood and business associations are going to breathe new life into an old tradition by holding an Appreciation Picnic for the officers and staff at the KC Police Department’s Metro Patrol Station, Hwy 71/Prospect Ave. Area residents will meet over the next six weeks to plan a wonderful event to show their gratitude and thankfulness to all those who protect and serve the area covered by the Metro Patrol.

FlagFlagMake way for the Second Annual Southtown Independence Day Celebration Parade on Saturday, June 29 beginning at 10am in Pener Plazan (63rd and Woodland) Last year there were more than 50 parade entries including a marching band, cars and motorcycles, floats, and animals. It was very warm so we are starting the parade earlier this year. There are no entry fees and it’s a great opportunity for you to “strut your stuff!”

Registration is now open for The Research Foundation’s 24th Annual Research Medical Center Golf Classic and Silent Auction on Monday, August 19th at Blue Hills Country Club. Starting at 12:30 p.m., the Golf Classic features an 18-hole, 4-person scramble with a shotgun gun start. Sponsorships range from $200 - $10,000 and many include golfing positions. Golfers enjoy green fees, cart, lunch, cocktail reception, food buffet, prize drawings and awards ceremony.

Public Improvements Approved

The Kansas City Public Improvements Advisory Committee (PIAC) recently notified us that the following projects have been approved in the City’s 2013 Fiscal Budget with funds from the public improvements sales tax fund: Installation of street trees along the north side of 63rd St. from Troost Ave. to Oak St.; improvements and final design work for the Water Tower Restoration project at Tower Park; and new sidewalks and appurtenances along Brookside Plaza from 63rd St. to Meyer Blvd.
