A “Loser” in Southtown

Perhaps, you have long forgotten or have given up on your New Year’s resolution to “get fit.” Now that September has arrived, your resolutions may be a faint memory. For one Southtowner, the determination and desire to “get fit” is alive and well. David Najarian, Buildings and Facilities Coordinator at Church of the Nazarene International Headquarters, was selected by KCTV5 in April as one of the “Get Fit with Five” participants. David was only one of 5 individuals chosen as a participant out of 600+ who entered. In his application letter to KCTV5, David signed his letter as “A desperate want-to-be ‘loser’ in Kansas City.” And, a “loser” he has been since starting the program in April. At the August “weigh-in,” he had lost 30 pounds and is showing signs of improvement in every other area.

As a participant in the program, David was given a complimentary one-year membership to 24-Hour Fitness and the direction of a personal trainer. David also maintains a very entertaining personal blog of his journey on the KCTV5 website at www.kctv5.com. Even though David is only 52 years of age, he officially has deemed himself the “Grampz” of the group of selected participants younger in age.

David recently stated he wanted to participate so he could travel and meet his goal of being a healthier husband, father and employee. Along with becoming healthier, he indicated that his hope would be to lose weight, have more energy and create a lifestyle that after doing this for a year, he would never go back to the “old David” before he entered into this amazing journey.

In his day-to-day responsibilities, David has for over 24 years served at Nazarene International Headquarters and had responsibility for maintaining the beautiful grounds and buildings on the church headquarters’ campus for the majority of those years. We are proud of you, David, and wish you success in your efforts to be a “loser” in KC!
