Hogan “Prepares for Smart Eating”

Hogan Preparatory Academy High School students spent the last several months designing, constructing and maintaining their very own unique edible landscape gaining them the August Sparkle Award. Everybody likes the idea of fresh home grown fruit/veggies/herbs but don’t necessarily think of these items in landscape design. The students started with research on edible plants that would best fit the school’s climate, physical location, natural habitat and then built their landscape design around those materials. Youth gardens are as distinctive as the people who create and enjoy them. Hogan students created a landscape to meet the local program needs, and used the

physical site and available resources to their fullest meeting the goals of healthy eating for all.

If you would like your child to be part of this exciting program as well as others, Hogan is still accepting applications for the 2013-14 school year for all grades, with particular emphasis on grades Kindergarten - 6th grade and your student will be placed on the waiting list for the next available opening.
