The Kansas City Tax Clinic provides free legal services for low-income taxpayers in controversy with the IRS. Controversies such as when the IRS takes your wages for back taxes, when the IRS denies your claim for the Earned Income Credit, when your refund is taken and applied to someone else's taxes, etc.
The Kansas City Tax Clinic is a project of the UMKC Graduate Tax Law Foundation. Students in the UMKC School of Law tax program represent the clients under the supervision of the Clinic's Directors. As the Clinic has taken on more and more clients, they have been able to enroll additional students in the class each semester. Through the work done in the Clinic these students are able to learn first hand how to work for a client, as well as gaining vital experience working with the IRS.
The Kansas City Tax Clinic is located at 52nd and Oak in the UMKC School of Law. For further information please call (816) 235-6201.
